THE MAIN DIRECTIONS OF PROVIDING THE POPULATION WITH DRINKING WATER

Abstract

Fundamental measures are being taken in Azerbaijan to provide the population with drinking water. In the presence of limited water resources, compliance with administrative and legal norms for the economical use of drinking water is expanding. Despite the abundance of water in nature, ten percent of the world's population faces a shortage of drinking water. It is a pity that Azerbaijan is among the countries where drinking water per capita during the year is small. Indeed, fresh water sources in the country are widely used to supply the population with drinking water. Problems remain with the use of transboundary river waters. It should be noted that the increase in the share of water supply, waste treatment and processing in the structure of industrial production in the country is a good trend. Measures are being taken to prevent the wasteful use of drinking water during a period of declining fresh water supplies.
