THE HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE FOR AZERBAIJAN OF THE ARCHED BRIDGE OVER THE QUDYALCHAY, WHOSE PIERS ARE AS STRONG AS EVER

Abstract

They say that culture begins with the road. And the indispensable means of overcoming impassable roads are bridges. In the modern era, most bridges are built with reinforced concrete, yet many of them collapse within a short period. What’s interesting is that while many other bridges have been swept away by floodwaters, this “Arched Bridge” has never once been destroyed. Preserving the history of this architectural structure—a bridge—for future generations and uncovering its historical, architectural, and artistic value is of great importance as a cultural monument. Taking these factors into account, the author has considered it necessary to study this monument in depth, to research and identify its significance, and to bring it into the scientific discourse. For this reason, the topic was chosen, and the author made it their goal to investigate this architectural monument. This historical bridge still preserves its magnificence to this day. It is essential to protect and preserve this monument for future generations as well.
