Abstract

The roughness and hardness of the surface during ball rolling are significantly affected by the pressure generated in the contact zone of the part processed by the tool, the dimensions of the longitudinally deforming tool, the initial roughness of the surface, and the physical and mechanical properties of the metal. Other parameters have little effect on the roughness and hardness of the processed surface. It was determined by the tests that with the increase of the rolling force, the roughness of the studied construction steels decreases significantly, and the contact area of the part processed by the tool increases. This has a positive effect on the properties. An increase in pressure in the contact area (increase in rolling force) increases the surface hardness of all steels.
